HawaiianMiles to Atmos Rewards: Guide for Hawaii Travelers & FAQs

Atmos Rewards, the new loyalty program that combines HawaiianMiles and Alaska’s Mileage Plan officially launched on August 20, 2025. For local travelers, this is a huge shift. While there’s been a lot of chatter (and some confusion) online, I wanted to break things down clearly for you: what’s changing, what’s staying the same, and most importantly, what it means for us flying out of Hawaiʻi.

Big Picture

  • HawaiianMiles become Atmos Points (1:1, same value, never expire)

  • Pualani status maps into Atmos tiers (Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium)

  • Huakaʻi by Hawaiian perks continue for local members

  • Expanded flight network: you’ll earn and redeem across Hawaiian + Alaska starting October 1, 2025

  • More changes coming in 2026: new ways to earn points (distance, price, or even by segment)

Premier Club Access

Starting October 1, 2025, Premier Club access will be available to:

  • Atmos Silver and higher

  • First Class passengers

  • Huakaʻi members (Hawaiʻi residents)

So yes — this lounge perk is still around, but now it’s more focused on locals.

Elite Tiers Mapping

Here’s how Hawaiian elite status shifts into Atmos Rewards:

Elite Tier Mapping: HawaiianMiles → Atmos Rewards
Hawaiian Status Atmos Tier oneworld Tier Qualification
Pualani Platinum (100k+ EQMs) Atmos Titanium Emerald 100,000+ EQMs
Pualani Platinum (75k–99,999 EQMs) Atmos Platinum Emerald 75,000–99,999 EQMs
Pualani Platinum (40k–74,999 EQMs) Atmos Gold Sapphire 40,000–74,999 EQMs
Pualani Gold (20k–39,999 EQMs) Atmos Silver Ruby 20,000–39,999 EQMs

The qualification requirements remain the same, so no surprises here.

Frequently Asked Questions About HawaiianMiles and Atmos Rewards

There have been dozens of questions flooding in on the integration process between Hawaiian Airlines & Atmos rewards. here were some of the top questions asked by our Hawaii Reward Travel Community.

1. What happens to my HawaiianMiles with Atmos Rewards?

All of your HawaiianMiles will automatically transfer into Atmos Rewards points on October 1, 2025 at a 1:1 ratio. Your points will keep the same value and will never expire. You don’t need to do anything for this to happen.

2. Will Pualani Gold members lose benefits under Atmos Rewards?

Some perks are changing. Starting in 2026, free checked bags for Atmos Silver (formerly Pualani Gold) drop from two to one. Elite bonuses also decrease from 50% to 25%. However, Gold members gain new perks like complimentary upgrades on Alaska First Class and eventually on Hawaiian domestic flights, plus oneworld recognition across a global network.

3. Can I still pool or share miles like I could before?

Yes, Atmos introduces points pooling. With the new Summit Visa Infinite card, you can share points with up to 10 members at no fees. And Huakaʻi members (Hawaiʻi residents) keep their special checked bag benefit and other local perks.

4. What if I don’t link my Alaska and Hawaiian accounts before Atmos Rewards launches?

Don’t worry, you won’t lose your HawaiianMiles. On October 1, 2025, your HawaiianMiles will automatically convert into Atmos Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio, and your Pualani status will map into the new tiers.

If you don’t link your accounts:

  • Atmos will still create a new account for your HawaiianMiles.

  • Your balance and elite status will transfer automatically.

  • The only risk is ending up with two Atmos accounts (one from your HawaiianMiles, one from your existing Alaska account).

5. What happens if I end up with two Atmos Rewards accounts because I didn’t link my Hawaiian and Alaska accounts? Can I merge them later?

Yes. If you don’t link your accounts before launch, you may wind up with two Atmos accounts under your name. If that happens:

  • Contact Atmos Rewards (via Alaska Airlines customer service).

  • They’ll verify your identity and merge the accounts for you.

  • Your miles, elite status, and Huakaʻi perks will be combined.

  • No miles or benefits will be lost, though it may take a few days to process.

👉 Best practice: Link your accounts now to save yourself the hassle.

6. What about my Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard benefits?

Your credit card’s perks continue without interruption. It will keep earning HawaiianMiles until October 1, and once Atmos Rewards takes over, the miles (now called points) will simply go into your Atmos account instead. Additional card benefits remain the same as before the transition.

Final Thoughts

Atmos Rewards is a big change, and yes, it comes with both pluses and minuses. For many of us in Hawaiʻi, the biggest win is that our HawaiianMiles and elite status are protected, and we’ll soon have access to a much larger network of flights and upgrade opportunities. The downside? Some familiar perks, like interisland standby and extra bag waivers are getting trimmed back.

The bottom line: locals still come out ahead, especially if you’re a Huakaʻi member or fly frequently enough to hold elite status.

Scottie’s Take

I know change can feel overwhelming, especially when it involves something as personal as our HawaiianMiles. But here’s the way I see it: we’re moving from a small island program into a global one, and that opens up way more doors for us. Yes, some of the “small-kine” perks we loved are going away, but the tradeoff are larger upgrades across both Hawaiian and Alaska, oneworld recognition, and the chance to use our points far beyond what we could before.

For the local traveler, Atmos Rewards feels like the start of something bigger. And I’m here to help us navigate it together. Mahalo for your patience & Aloha!
