Like a lot of locals, I started out thinking the HawaiianMiles card was the only option for earning travel rewards from the islands. I was completely uneducated about how much more value other cards could offer.
Figuring that out changed how my family travels. Over the past 9 years, I've been quietly using points and miles to take my own ʻohana on trips we never could have afforded with cash — premium cabins to Japan, family vacations to the mainland, hotel stays we'd otherwise have skipped.
Now I share the same strategies I use for my own family with other Hawaiʻi locals. Through the free ʻOhana Program, I coach Hawaiʻi families one-on-one — over 400 so far — on how to earn points toward flights, hotels, and adventures, without going into debt and without paying me a dollar.
