How to Use This

Calculating Your Own Redemption Value

To check if a specific award redemption beats the benchmark, divide the cash price of the booking by the points cost:

Cash Price ($) ÷ Points Cost = Cents Per Point Value

Example: A flight costing $800 or 50,000 United miles = 1.6¢ per mile — above the 1.35¢ benchmark, making it a strong redemption.

Tip: For Hawaii departures, premium cabin awards to Japan and Asia often yield 2–4¢ per point — well above these benchmarks. The ʻOhana program can show you exactly how to find these sweet spots.

Methodology
Source: The Points Guy April 2026 monthly valuations. TPG valuations for domestic airline programs and hotel programs are derived from real booking data using a data-backed methodology launched in September 2023, with hotel data verified via Gondola.ai. Credit card valuations are based on the highest-value transfer partner for each program. These represent median real-world values, not idealized maximums. Values marked with * use TPG's data-backed methodology; ** use Gondola hotel data. Valuations change monthly — always verify at thepointsguy.com before booking. HawaiianMiles is not listed separately as it has been transitioned into Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards following the 2024 acquisition.
