HawaiianMiles Have Officially Migrated Into Atmos Rewards: Here’s What Hawai‘i Travelers Need to Know

Aloha Atmos, Mahalo HawaiianMiles

If you’ve been flying Hawaiian for years, you probably feel a little mixed today. On one hand, we’re saying goodbye to HawaiianMiles, a program that many of us in Hawai‘i grew up with. On the other, we’re gaining Atmos Rewards, which officially launched today, October 1.

The good news? Nothing got lost in translation. Your miles, your status, and your reservations are safe. And the even better news? Atmos opens up more opportunities than HawaiianMiles ever could — with stronger earning, more partners, and better upgrades on the horizon.

As someone who’s been tracking this shift closely (and even talking with Hawaiian Airlines insiders), here’s my local guide to what’s really changed and what you need to know right now.

The Big Switch: HawaiianMiles → Atmos Rewards

  • All miles became points 1:1. Whatever you had in HawaiianMiles is now Atmos points, no loss of value.

  • Your number has changed. You’ll see a new Atmos Rewards number in place of your HawaiianMiles number, but it’s already connected to your bookings.

  • Elite-qualifying miles (EQMs) are now called status points. Same idea, just a new name.

What Stayed the Same

  • Your balance and status carried over. Nothing was wiped or reset. If you were Pualani Platinum yesterday, you’re still Atmos Platinum today.

  • Your credit card benefits remain. Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard® perks (like free bag) continue without interruption.

  • Existing reservations are safe. If you booked an award seat before the change, it’s honored.

What’s New With Atmos

  • Bigger earning on Neighbor Island flights. You can now earn up to 5x more points compared to before, which makes interisland flying much more rewarding.

  • More ways to earn status points. Atmos counts not just cash tickets, but also award flights on Alaska, Hawaiian, and partners. You’ll also earn through dining, shopping, and even non-travel partners.

  • A massive partner network. Atmos brings 30+ airlines (full oneworld® alliance), 1,000+ destinations, and even local partners like Foodland. That means your everyday spending can get you closer to travel.

  • Milestone perks start earlier. Instead of waiting for elite status, you’ll unlock bonuses starting at 10,000 status points.

  • Stronger upgrade program. More elites can now get complimentary upgrades across more routes. Starting spring 2026, top-tier Titanium members (and a companion) will even get complimentary day-of upgrades into long-haul Business Class.

  • Flexible earning (coming 2026). You’ll choose how to earn: by distance flown, price paid, or segments. No other U.S. airline offers this kind of flexibility.

Huakaʻi by Hawaiian: Local Perks Remain

For Hawai‘i residents, Huakaʻi is still the key to unlocking local-only benefits:

  • Quarterly Neighbor Island discounts keep interisland flights affordable.

  • Monthly fare deals across the network for when you’re flying beyond the islands.

  • One free checked bag on Neighbor Island flights — something families here will really feel.

  • NEW! 50% bonus points and status points on Neighbor Island flights (coming in 2026), stacking even more value on our bread-and-butter routes.

Insider Notes for Hawai‘i Travelers

  • Don’t stress about your new Atmos number. It’s automatically tied to your reservations, so you don’t need to do anything.

  • Award space might look different this week. With the system switch, things are still smoothing out. Expect more consistent availability soon.

  • Japan is opening up stronger than ever. With Alaska and JAL now in the mix, Hawai‘i flyers get more options to Tokyo and Osaka than we ever had with HawaiianMiles alone.

  • Stay enrolled in Huakaʻi. This is the program that keeps the focus on locals — from interisland perks to exclusive deals.

I had both a HawaiianMiles account and an Atmos Rewards account, but I never linked them. What do I do?

If you didn’t link your accounts before the Sept. 26 cutoff, you now have two Atmos Rewards accounts. On Oct. 1, 2025, Hawaiian created a new Atmos account for you using your HawaiianMiles profile. You can log in with your old HawaiianMiles credentials, then merge the two accounts at any time.

I now have two Atmos Rewards accounts. Can I merge them?
Yes. To combine them:

  1. Sign in to the account you want to keep.

  2. Select the Merge your Atmos Rewards accounts feature. (need to be logged into access page)

  3. Follow the prompts to finish.
👉 Important: whichever account you sign in to first will be the one that stays after the merge.

Scottie’s Take

I’ll be real: part of me is sad to see HawaiianMiles go. I remember the days when my family would save up miles just to make those holiday trips to the mainland. That program meant something to us here in Hawai‘i.

But as I’ve dug deeper into Atmos Rewards, I honestly think we’re moving into a stronger position. The earning potential is way higher, especially if you fly interisland. The partner network is finally global, not just limited to a handful of airlines. And the upgrade opportunities, especially looking at 2026 with Titanium, are unlike anything Hawaiian could have ever pulled off on its own.

For locals, the bottom line is this: Atmos gives us more. More partners, more ways to earn, and more chances to stretch our points further. Yes, it’s an adjustment. But it’s one I believe is going to benefit Hawai‘i travelers in a big way. To celebrate. I also found Hundreds of discounted 50% off business class seats on flights to LAX, LAS, SFO, SEA, HND, & NGO. I’ll be posting in my instagram reels when soon. STAY POSTED!
