Atmos Rewards Quietly Updates Award Chart — Big Wins for Interisland & Hawaii Mainland Flights

Atmos Rewards, the new combined program for Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines, has made a major update to its award chart. For anyone flying between the islands or to the mainland from Hawai‘i, these changes mean lower award prices and better value for your points.Although, we found some flights even cheaper than posted on the award chart price. Read below.

Interisland Flights: From 15K to Just 4.5K

For years, interisland awards were overpriced at 15,000 HawaiianMiles one-way. Atmos Rewards has finally fixed that.

  • Economy awards now start at just 4,500 points one-way

  • First class awards as low as 12,500 points one-way

This makes it realistic again to use points for short hops between O‘ahu, Maui, Kaua‘i, and the Big Island. Even first class can price as low as 12,500 points one-way, which is great because according to the award chart, they should be 15,000 points.

Mainland Flights: Cheaper to the West Coast

If you’re heading to the mainland, there’s more good news:

  • Economy from Hawai‘i to the West Coast starts at 12,500 points one-way

  • First Class can be booked from just 30,000 points one-way

That’s a price drop from the old 15K/40K rates, saving families thousands of points on popular routes like HNL–LAX, HNL–SFO, HNL–SEA, and HNL–SAN. Once in a while, there are very discounted flights, I found an economy seat for 10,000 points one-way.

As low as 10,000 points one way.

I found a handful of business class seats on American Airlines for 35,000 points.

The Catch: Long Flights Got More Expensive

Atmos also added a new distance band for flights over 3,500 miles. That means longer trips, like Hawai‘i to the East Coast, may end up costing more points than before. If you do some searching, you can find a few good deals, I found this non-stop from HNL to JFK for just 26,500 points.

Scottie’s Take

For local travelers, this is one of the best changes we’ve seen since the Alaska–Hawaiian merger. Interisland flights finally make sense to book with points, and West Coast runs are cheaper than ever. If you’ve been sitting on HawaiianMiles, now Atmos points, this is the time to log in, get use to the new program, and search for some deals.
