- It's not open yet. The new Alaska/Hawaiian premium lounge at HNL is under development at the entrance to the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1.
- The latest timeline is early 2028. It was first announced for the end of 2027, and the September 29, 2026 update from Alaska Air Group moved it to early 2028.
- About 13,000 square feet with room for roughly 200 guests, several times bigger than today's Plumeria Lounge.
- Access rules have not been announced. Expect it to work like the Alaska Lounge network (Alaska Lounge members, premium cabins, and Atmos elites on international trips), but nothing is final.
- No credit card is confirmed to get you in. The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite passes work at Alaska Lounges, so watch whether this lounge joins that network.
Here's the short answer on the new Alaska/Hawaiian premium lounge at HNL: it isn't open, it's now expected in early 2028, and nobody can get in yet. Alaska Air Group is building it at the entrance to the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1, and it will be the biggest airline lounge Hawaiian has ever had in Honolulu.
I'll be straight with you. Access rules have not been announced. What's below separates what Alaska and Hawaiian have actually said from what I expect based on how they run lounges today. I'll update this page as soon as there's real news.
Who will be able to get into the new Hawaiian premium lounge at HNL?
Alaska and Hawaiian have not announced who can use the new premium lounge at HNL. They have said only that it will serve both Alaska and Hawaiian guests. The table below is my expectation based on how the Plumeria Lounge and Alaska Lounges work today. None of it is final.
| Your situation | Gets in? | Guests | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alaska Lounge or Lounge+ member | Limited | Not announced | Expected, since it should join the Alaska Lounge network |
| Atmos Gold, Platinum, Titanium on an international trip | Limited | Not announced | Expected, based on current Plumeria and oneworld rules |
| International business class on Hawaiian or Alaska | Limited | Not announced | Expected |
| Paid or award first class, long-haul | Limited | Not announced | Expected if Alaska's 2,000+ mile rule carries over |
| Atmos Silver | No | N/A | Not expected, based on current rules |
| Priority Pass | No | N/A | No sign of Priority Pass. Not announced either way. |
| Day pass | Limited | Not announced | Alaska Lounges sell day passes today, so possible |
When does the new Hawaiian Airlines lounge at HNL open?
The new Alaska/Hawaiian premium lounge at HNL is now expected to open in early 2028. Hawaiian first revealed the lounge on January 9, 2025 with an end of 2027 target, and repeated that timeline into 2026. On September 29, 2026, Alaska Air Group shared updated plans and renderings with an early 2028 date.
Airport construction slips all the time, so treat any date as a target, not a promise. Until it opens, the Plumeria Lounge and Premier Club are the Hawaiian lounges at HNL.
Opening dates, access rules, and amenities can all change before the doors open. I'll keep this page updated as Alaska and Hawaiian share more.
How big is the new Hawaiian premium lounge in Honolulu, and what will it have?
The new premium lounge at HNL is planned at about 13,000 square feet with room for roughly 200 guests, based on the September 2026 announcement. Earlier, Hawaiian described it as about five times bigger than its current Honolulu lounge, which is great news for anyone who has fought for a seat in Plumeria at 9 p.m.
Here's what Alaska and Hawaiian have said it will include:
- Locally inspired food and drinks, plus a signature local coffee experience
- A full-service bar with signature cocktails
- Private workspaces for people who need to get work done
- Artwork and installations by local artists, with a design drawn from Hawaii's natural elements
- Showers: reported by Beat of Hawaii, not yet confirmed by the airlines
Where will the new Alaska/Hawaiian lounge be at HNL?
The new Alaska/Hawaiian premium lounge will be at the entrance to the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1 at HNL. That's the newer concourse on the mountain side of Terminal 1, close to where many Hawaiian mainland flights board.
One thing to watch: as of October 3, 2026, Hawaiian moved international check-in to Terminal 2, Lobby 4. How international flyers get to a Terminal 1 lounge, and whether that changes the access rules, is something Alaska and Hawaiian haven't addressed yet.
Will the new lounge replace the Plumeria Lounge and Premier Club?
Alaska and Hawaiian have not said whether the Plumeria Lounge or the Premier Club at HNL will close when the new premium lounge opens. With a lounge this size, I'd expect at least the Plumeria Lounge to be folded in, but that's my read, not an announcement.
This lounge is part of a bigger premium push. Alaska Air Group also announced a 200-seat Aurora Lounge in Seattle and new Leihōkū Suites on Hawaiian's A330s, with work starting in 2028.
How do you get ready for the New Alaska/Hawaiian Premium Lounge?
- Use the current lounges for now. Plumeria for Atmos Gold+ international, Alaska Lounge members, and day passes. Premier Club for Atmos elites in Huakaʻi and Priority Pass.
- Work toward Atmos Gold since that's the tier I expect to matter most for international access when this opens.
- Look at an Alaska Lounge membership if you fly the mainland often, since this lounge is expected to join the Alaska Lounge network.
- Check back here for access rules once Alaska and Hawaiian announce them.
Long overdue. I'm excited, but I'm waiting on the access rules.
Real talk, HNL is Hawaiian's home base and the Plumeria Lounge is too small for it. A lounge this size, with real local food and a proper bar, is exactly what kamaaina flyers have been asking for. I'm genuinely excited about this one.
But I'm not going to tell you which card to get for a lounge that doesn't have access rules yet. The safe play is the same as always: build toward Atmos Gold, because that tier already works across the Plumeria Lounge, Sakura, and oneworld lounges, and I expect it to matter here too.
