Southwest Is Offering 2X Points — But You Have to Register This Weekend
⏱ 2 min read
Southwest just launched a double points promotion for flights booked this weekend only. If you have any Southwest trips on the horizon between now and July, this is worth five minutes of your time. Here's everything you need to know.
The Deal
Earn double Rapid Rewards points on all Southwest flights. Short window though — you need to register and book before Sunday night, April 12.
- Register by: April 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT
- Book by: April 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT
- Fly by: July 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT
- Registration must be completed before you book your flight
- Bonus points do not count toward A-List or Companion Pass qualification
The Rebooking Play
Here's where it gets interesting. Flights booked before you register do not qualify. But Southwest lets you cancel and rebook for free.
If you already have upcoming Southwest travel, do this before Sunday: register first, then check if your fare is still the same price or lower. If it is, cancel your current booking and rebook. You'll pick up double points at no extra cost.
This promo appears targeted but registration has been open to all Rapid Rewards members so far. Register now even if you have nothing booked yet — it costs nothing and takes 30 seconds. You can always book later this weekend.
Real talk — this promo isn't a reason to book Southwest over another carrier if you weren't already planning to. But if Southwest is already in your rotation for mainland hops or interisland connections, you'd be leaving points on the table by skipping the registration.
The bonus won't move the needle on Companion Pass or A-List, but extra points are extra points — and they'll stack toward future award flights. Register now, sort out the rest later.
