Which dates should I skip in the Hawaiian Airlines sale?

Skip Thanksgiving weekend and the first four days of January. Those dates are priced far above the sale, and a few are already gone. Here is what I saw:

  • Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 27 to 29): HNL to Los Angeles runs $679 to $799 and is sold out on Saturday, Nov 28. HNL to San Francisco hits $793 that Saturday.
  • New Year's (Jan 1 to 4): HNL to Las Vegas is $884 on Jan 1, sold out Jan 2, and $888 on Jan 3. HNL to New York tops out at $1,053. If you are planning a Vegas New Year's, fly on or before Dec 25 instead.
  • The sneaky good one: Flying out around Christmas is cheaper than you would think. HNL to San Francisco is $149 from Dec 22 to 25, and HNL to Los Angeles is $155 on Christmas Day.

What about the other sale cities?

The other 24 cities in the Hawaiian Airlines sale have some of the biggest drops. HNL to Oakland and San Diego match San Francisco at $104, and Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Raleigh-Durham, and Columbus dip to $206 to $212 one way, less than half the advertised fare. Some of the farther cities may route through a connection, so check the itinerary.

Should I use points or cash for this sale?

Pay cash on sale dates and save your points for the expensive ones. When HNL to Los Angeles is $115, burning points is a poor trade. When the same flight is $679 or more over Thanksgiving, that is when points can shine, so compare the award price on those dates before you pay.

Good to know

This is a cash sale, not an award sale. A cash fare still earns Atmos Rewards points (the amount depends on the fare type), and charging it to a card that earns bonus points on airfare stacks even more. Not sure which card fits your family? Start with our best cards for Hawaiʻi residents, then check what your points are really worth with our points value guide.

How do I book the Hawaiian Airlines sale?

  1. Pick your city and a few dates. Use the calendar above to find the midweek dates at or under the sale price.
  2. Search one way from HNL on the Hawaiian Airlines sale page. These are one way fares, so price your return separately. It may not be on sale.
  3. Check the fare type and routing. Saver is the cheapest and most restrictive. Look for any connection before you book.
  4. Book before 8:59 pm HST on Thursday, September 17. Prices move during a sale, so if you see your fare, grab it.

Hawaiian Airlines sale FAQ

When does the Hawaiian Airlines sale end?

The Hawaiian Airlines three-day sale ends Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 8:59 pm Hawaiʻi time, which is 11:59 pm Pacific. Fares can sell out or change before then, so book as soon as you find dates that work.

What travel dates are included in the sale?

The Hawaiian Airlines sale fares I checked cover travel from October 6, 2026 through March 10, 2027. Holiday dates are included but priced much higher, especially Thanksgiving weekend and January 1 to 4.

What is the cheapest fare from Honolulu in this sale?

The cheapest Hawaiian Airlines sale fare from Honolulu is $104 one way in Saver to San Francisco, Oakland, and San Diego on select dates. Los Angeles and Long Beach come in at $115 one way on many midweek dates.

Are these round trip prices?

No. Every price in this post is a one way Saver fare departing Honolulu, per person. Your return flight is priced separately and may not be discounted, so check both directions before you commit.

Can I cancel a Hawaiian Airlines Saver fare?

Hawaiian Airlines Saver fares in this sale are nonrefundable. If you cancel 14 or more days before departure, you get a credit for 50% of the fare. Cancel inside 14 days and you get nothing back, so only book dates you are confident about.

Is Las Vegas on sale for the holidays?

HNL to Las Vegas in this sale bottoms out at $170 on select dates in October, December, January, and February, with plenty of $179 midweek dates. The week before Christmas runs about $308 to $354, and January 1 to 3 jumps to $884 or more, with January 2 sold out as of September 16, 2026.

Scottie's Take

Okay, this one is legit. $104 to the Bay Area and $115 to LA is the kind of pricing where I stop overthinking and just book. If you have been wanting a Costco run in Vegas, a quick LA trip to see ʻohana, or a spring getaway, look at a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and you will probably land at or under the sale price.

My one caution: Saver fares are nonrefundable, so do not book "maybe" trips. And if you were eyeing New Year's in Vegas, fly out by Christmas Day and save hundreds.
