- A United Club membership or the United Club℠ Card gets you into the United Club in Honolulu on any same-day United or Star Alliance flight, including the mainland trips most of us take.
- Anyone flying United or Star Alliance can buy a day pass for $59 per person in the United app or at the door, as long as the club has space. You can enter up to three hours before departure.
- Star Alliance Gold status (United Premier Gold and up) gets you in plus one guest, but only on an international itinerary, not a straight HNL to SFO trip.
- Domestic first class to the mainland does not include club access on its own. You need a membership, a card, or a day pass.
- The Platinum Card from American Express and Priority Pass do not work here. Neither gets you into the United Club at HNL.
Here's the short answer for the United Club Honolulu question: if you hold a United Club membership or the United Club℠ Card, you're in on any same-day United or Star Alliance flight out of HNL. If not, you can buy a $59 one-time pass in the United app, which is the easiest lounge purchase at the airport.
For locals flying United to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, or Chicago, this is the lounge that matters. It's open from early morning into the evening, which most of the international lounges in Terminal 2 are not. Here are the current rules as of October 2026.
Who can get into the United Club at Honolulu airport?
The United Club at HNL admits United Club members, United Club℠ Card and United Club℠ Business Card holders, one-time pass holders, United Polaris and international business class passengers, Star Alliance first and business class passengers, and Star Alliance Gold members on international itineraries. Everyone needs a same-day boarding pass on United or a Star Alliance airline.

Which credit card gets you into the United Club at HNL?
The United Club℠ Card from Chase is the credit card that gets you into the United Club at HNL every time you fly United, because it includes a full United Club membership for the primary cardmember. Chase lists the annual fee at $695. Authorized users don't get their own membership, so they need to travel with the primary cardmember.
The United℠ Explorer Card is the lighter option. It comes with two one-time United Club passes each year, which is enough for one round trip to the mainland for a couple. The Platinum Card from American Express does not get you into United Clubs at all.
| Card | United Club access? | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| United Club℠ Card | Yes | United Club membership for the primary cardmember, with guest privileges. $695 annual fee. |
| United Club℠ Business Card | Yes | United Club membership for the primary cardmember. $695 annual fee. |
| United℠ Explorer Card | Limited | 2 one-time United Club passes each year. |
| The Platinum Card from American Express | No | No United Club access. Its lounge benefits are Centurion, Delta Sky Club, and Priority Pass. |
Card benefits and fees change, so check the current terms on the issuer's site. Terms apply. I only recommend the United Club℠ Card if you fly United several times a year. For one or two trips, day passes or the Explorer card's passes cost a lot less.
Can you buy a day pass to the United Club in Honolulu?
Yes. United sells a one-time United Club pass for $59 per person, good at the Honolulu club with a same-day boarding pass on United or a Star Alliance airline. Buy it in the United app or at the club entrance.
Two rules trip people up. First, since May 2025 you can only enter within three hours of your departure (connections are the exception). Second, United can turn away pass holders when the club is near capacity, which does happen during the evening mainland bank. A family of four is $236 for passes, so do the math against your time in the lounge.
Does United Premier Gold get you into the United Club on a Hawaii to mainland flight?
No. United Premier Gold and other Star Alliance Gold members only get into the United Club at HNL when flying an international itinerary, like HNL to Tokyo or Sydney. A Honolulu to San Francisco or Denver trip is domestic, so status alone won't get you in, even if you're sitting in first class.
That's why the membership and the card matter so much for us. Almost every United flight from Hawaii is a domestic flight, so for mainland trips your options are a membership, the United Club℠ Card, or a $59 pass.
Atmos Rewards status does nothing here. Alaska and Hawaiian are oneworld, and United is Star Alliance. For Hawaiian flights, look at the Hawaiian Airlines Premier Club instead.
Where is the United Club at Honolulu airport?
The United Club at HNL is in Terminal 2 on level 3 of the G concourse (the Diamond Head side), above Gates G2 and G3. Clear security in Terminal 2, walk toward the G gates, and take the escalator up.
United, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, and other Star Alliance flights often leave from the G gates, so it's a short walk down to boarding. If you're flying ANA and have access to both, the ANA Lounge above Gate C4 is about a 10 minute walk away.
How do you use the United Club at HNL?
- Confirm your access. Membership, United Club℠ Card, a one-time pass, or Star Alliance Gold on an international trip.
- Buy a pass in the United app if you need one. It's $59 per person, and you can enter within three hours of departure.
- Clear security in Terminal 2 and walk toward the G gates on the Diamond Head side.
- Go up to level 3 above Gates G2 and G3. Have your same-day United or Star Alliance boarding pass ready.
- Bring your guests in together. Guests must enter with you and be flying that day.
Not fancy, but it's the one that's open when you fly United.
Real talk, the United Club at HNL is a workhorse, not a showpiece. The food is light snacks, and it gets crowded before the evening mainland departures. But it's open early and late, the bar is solid, and when your flight is delayed it beats sitting at the gate.
Don't get the United Club℠ Card just for this lounge unless you fly United several times a year. For one or two mainland trips, a $59 pass or the United℠ Explorer Card passes make more sense. If you have Star Alliance Gold and you're flying international, walk over to the ANA Lounge instead.
