Quick answer
Can you get into the Delta Sky Club?
  • The Platinum Card from American Express gets you into the Delta Sky Club at HNL 10 times per year (February 1 to January 31), only when you're flying a same-day Delta flight.
  • The Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card gets you 15 Sky Club visits per year on same-day Delta flights, plus four one-time guest passes.
  • Spend $75,000 on either card in a calendar year and Delta lifts the visit cap, giving you unlimited Sky Club access.
  • Delta One on HNL to the mainland gets you in, no card or status needed. Regular domestic first class does not.
  • You can't walk in early. Entry opens 3 hours before your scheduled departure, and Delta no longer sells day passes.
  • A bigger Sky Club is coming next to Gate F2, about 12,280 square feet, with a realistic opening window of late 2027 to mid 2028.

Here's the straight answer on the Delta Sky Club Honolulu question: you get in if you're flying Delta that same day and you hold one of the right American Express cards, a Sky Club membership, or a Delta One ticket. If you're not on a Delta flight, no card gets you through the door.

This little club across from Gate F1 is modest in size but it has the best food at HNL. Rotating menu with real local flavors, a good bar, and Hawaiian art on the walls. When you have a Sunday night mainland red-eye and want a real meal before boarding, this is where you go. Amex and Delta tightened the rules in February 2025, so here's how it actually works as of October 2026.

Amex visit limits

How many Delta Sky Club visits does the Amex Platinum get at HNL?

The Platinum Card from American Express gets you 10 Delta Sky Club visits per year at HNL and every other Sky Club, counted from February 1 to January 31, and only when you're flying a Delta-operated flight that same day. That limit started on February 1, 2025, and replaced the old unlimited access. Multiple Sky Club entries within 24 hours count as one visit, so a connection doesn't burn two.

The Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card is more generous at 15 visits a year, plus four one-time guest passes for the primary cardholder. Hold both cards and you get 25. Once you use up your visits, Delta charges $50 per extra visit. Spend $75,000 on either card in a calendar year and the cap goes away entirely.

Visits don't cover your guests

Your guests can't use your visits. On the Amex Platinum, each guest is $50 and you pay with the card. For a family of four flying Delta to the mainland, that adds up fast. The Delta Reserve's four free guest passes are the more family-friendly option.

Delta One and status

Does Delta One or first class from Honolulu get you into the Sky Club?

A Delta One ticket gets you into the Delta Sky Club at HNL on the day you fly, but regular domestic first class does not. Delta flies Delta One lie-flat seats between Honolulu and several hubs, including Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York JFK, and Salt Lake City, though the exact list changes month to month. Delta One passengers can't bring guests.

Medallion status mostly doesn't help on Hawaii trips. Gold and Platinum Medallion members only get Sky Club access on international Delta One or Premium Select flights, and HNL to the mainland counts as domestic. SkyTeam Elite Plus members (from other SkyTeam airlines) get in before a same-day international SkyTeam flight, in any cabin, with one guest who's also on a SkyTeam flight.

Membership and 3-hour rule

Can you buy a Delta Sky Club day pass or membership in Honolulu?

No, Delta no longer sells single-visit day passes to the Sky Club at HNL or anywhere else. Annual Sky Club memberships still exist, but only Delta Medallion members can buy them: Individual runs $695 a year (or 69,500 SkyMiles) and Executive runs $1,495 a year (or 149,500 SkyMiles), with two complimentary guests on the Executive tier.

There's also a 3-hour rule. You can only enter within 3 hours of your scheduled departure, so showing up at noon for a 9 p.m. red-eye won't work. If your flight gets delayed after you're already inside, you're fine. Connecting passengers aren't limited by the window.

The new Sky Club

Is Delta building a bigger Sky Club at Honolulu airport?

Yes. In March 2026, Delta secured a lease for a new Delta Sky Club at HNL that will be roughly three times the size of the current one: about 12,280 square feet across four rooms, on the second level next to Gate F2. It's a 10-year lease with an $8 million minimum build-out. Realistic opening window is late 2027 to mid 2028. Full details on the New Delta Sky Club page.

Why this matters if you are building a card strategy

When the new club opens, it'll be one of the largest lounges at HNL. If you fly Delta a few times a year to the mainland (LAX, SEA, ATL, SLC), a Delta Reserve or Amex Platinum is going to age well. Building card history now means you're the one who gets easy approval when you actually want the card, not when you're scrambling a week before your trip.

Where it is

Where is the Delta Sky Club at Honolulu airport?

The Delta Sky Club at HNL is in Terminal 2 on the F Concourse, across from Gate F1. After you clear security on the Diamond Head side, it's right there. The entrance is easy to miss, so if Gate F1 is already behind you, turn around. Most Delta flights leave from the F and G gates, so you're never far from your plane. There are no windows and no showers, so this is a food and drink stop, not a place to freshen up.

Step by step

How do you use the Delta Sky Club at HNL?

  1. Book a Delta flight that isn't Basic Economy. Your same-day boarding pass is the key, whatever card you hold.
  2. Check your visit count in the Fly Delta app or your Amex account before you go.
  3. Arrive within 3 hours of departure. Any earlier and the desk will turn you away.
  4. Head to the F Concourse in Terminal 2 and look for the Sky Club across from Gate F1.
  5. Show your boarding pass and card. Pay guest fees with your Amex if you brought family.

Scottie's Take

For kamaaina who fly Delta, this is one of two easy wins at HNL.

The reality of premium lounge access at HNL comes down to two paths for most local travelers: fly ANA or JAL to Japan in business class once a year, or hold the right Amex and fly Delta a few times a year to the mainland. Everything else is either a Priority Pass fallback or needs airline status you probably don't have.

If Delta is already your go-to for mainland trips, the Sky Club is genuinely a nice part of the day. The food alone justifies showing up 90 minutes early instead of 45. Just know the visits aren't unlimited anymore. Ten visits on the Amex Platinum is plenty for most local families, but watch those $50 guest fees.
