Need My New Card Faster?
Standard credit card delivery takes about 7-10 business days. If you need the card sooner, most major issuers will expedite delivery for free if you call & ask politely. Here's how.
How to Request Rush Delivery
After your card is approved & shows up in your online account, call the issuer's customer service line & ask if they can expedite shipping at no charge. Most agents are authorized to bump your card to 1-3 business day delivery on request.
The script:
"Hi, I just got approved for [card name]. I have an upcoming trip / urgent need / [reason] - is there any way you can expedite the shipping?"
That's usually enough. Be polite, state the reason briefly, & most agents will say yes.
A few things to know:
No charge. Free expedited shipping is the standard offering at the major issuers. Don't pay for it - if an agent says it'll cost you, ask to escalate or try calling back later.
Same call, multiple asks. While you're on the phone, ALSO ask whether the card has a virtual card number you can access through the issuer's app - meaning you can start spending toward your welcome bonus before the physical card even arrives. Some issuers offer this proactively, others only if you ask. Worth bundling into the same call.
Customer Service Numbers by Issuer
Save the relevant number for whichever card you've just been approved for.
Chase - Personal cards (Freedom, Sapphire family): 800-432-3117 - Business cards (Ink family): 800-453-9719
American Express (all cards) - 800-567-1083
Capital One (all cards) - 800-903-9177
Atmos - Personal cards (Ascent, Summit): 800-732-9194 - Business card: 800-892-3219
Bilt (all cards) - 855-353-3168
These match the customer service numbers printed on the back of existing cards from each issuer - so if you've already got a card from that issuer in your wallet, the number on the back works too.
Hawaii-Specific Note
Inter-island delivery from mainland-based issuer fulfillment centers can sometimes add a day or two beyond the quoted timeline, regardless of whether you've expedited. Plan accordingly if you're trying to land the card before a specific trip.
If shipping is taking longer than promised once expedited, a quick follow-up call to confirm tracking is the right move.
What If Rush Delivery Doesn't Work?
If expedited delivery isn't available - or doesn't arrive in time - you can still start spending toward your welcome bonus immediately by adding the card to your digital wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay) once you've activated your virtual card number through the issuer's app. More on that on the approved-now-what page.
