What If I Accidentally Miss a Payment?

This is why I have you set up autopay the moment your new card arrives. Set it for "statement balance" on the "due date" - that way you never carry a balance, never trigger interest, & never miss a payment. The system handles itself.

If Something Slips Through

Maybe a new card arrives & autopay isn't set up yet. Maybe a one-off charge surprises you. If a late payment ever does happen, call the issuer immediately. First-time accidental late payments are often forgiven if you call quickly & politely.

Credit Score Impact

A single missed payment can drop your credit score 60-110 points & stays on your credit report for 7 years. That alone can derail upcoming card approvals & cost you bonus opportunities. Worth taking seriously.

Why This Is Non-Negotiable

The whole travel rewards strategy collapses if you're paying interest. Card APRs are typically 20-29% - that can wipe out months of welcome bonus value in a single missed cycle.

This is the one operational rule we never bend on: every card on autopay, full statement balance, every cycle.
