3 Disneyland Tips for Families with Children Under 3
There's nothing like seeing your child meet their favorite princess
As someone who’s been part of the Disney travel community for a while, I often see the comment:
“Why do people take their children under 3 years old to Disneyland? It’s such a waste of money!”
Coming from someone whose parents took them to Disneyland multiple times before age 3—I can assure you, it’s not. There is truly nothing like experiencing Disneyland when your kids meet their favorite hero or princess. The way their eyes light up when they see the fireworks or see their favorite character wave at them during a parade is unmatched.
With a little planning and the right expectations, bringing your littlest Mouseketeers can be incredibly magical.
If you’re visiting Disneyland with little ones, here are 3 tips to help make your vacation stress-free and full of core memories:
1. Take Advantage of FREE Entry
If your child is under 3 years old, they don’t need a ticket—they’re considered special guests of Mickey Mouse and get into the parks for free!
BONUS TIP: If your little one turns 3 during your vacation, they’re still considered 2 years old for the rest of the trip and don’t need a ticket.
2. Use The Baby Care Centers
Baby Care Center in DCA is located San Fransokyo Square, next to Ghirardelli.
These fully staffed, air-conditioned spaces are one of Disneyland’s best-kept secrets for parents of young kids. Open during regular park hours, each center is free to use and includes:
A nursing room with comfy chairs
Changing tables
Toddler-sized toilets (for kids under 42")
Highchairs for feeding
A kitchen area with a sink, bottle warmers, and microwave
A vending machine with formula, snacks, diapers, wipes, and more (credit card only)
Locations:
📍 Disneyland Park: End of Main Street, U.S.A., next to First Aid
📍 Disney California Adventure: San Fransokyo Square, next to Ghirardelli
Whether you need to feed, change, or just regroup, these centers are a lifesaver.
3. Stay On Property for Ease & Extra Magic
Staying at one of Disneyland’s three on-site hotels makes a huge difference when traveling with little ones. You’ll be close enough for an easy walk back for an afternoon nap, and each resort offers pools and splash pads perfect for toddlers.
The Steamboat Willie Splash Pad at the Disneyland Hotel Villas is perfect for kids to splash around.
Plus, hotel guests get Early Entry—30 extra minutes in the parks before the official opening. This makes a big difference when it comes to shorter lines, cooler temps, and squeezing in attractions and character meet & greets before the crowds arrive.
Early Entry allows you to enter the parks 30 minutes before opening. This is an exclusive perk for guests staying on property.
