Aloha ʻohana. Three on the board this week, June 23-30. A points run to the mainland gateway, an IHG summer sale, and a kamaʻāina rate at one of our favorite Big Island properties. One for the points crowd, one for the flexible traveler, and one partner stay we always stand behind. Here is the rundown.

Deal 1 · Points: HNL to LAX From 35,000 Atmos

Atmos Rewards is showing saver business and first class space from Honolulu to Los Angeles for 35,000 Atmos points on American or 40,000 on Hawaiian, one-way. LAX is the mainland gateway, so this is the points-efficient way off the rock.

Real Talk on the Seat
Here is the honest part. HNL to LAX "business" is a domestic product, and on most of these flights that means a recliner-style first class seat, not an international lie-flat. American's narrowbody Airbus jets and Hawaiian's A321neo both run domestic recliner first on this route. You only get a true lie-flat if you catch a widebody (American's 777 or 787, or Hawaiian's A330) or American's new A321XLR. Check the aircraft before you picture a flat bed. At 35,000 to 40,000 points one-way it is still a comfortable, points-efficient hop to the mainland.

Deal 2 · Hotel: Up to 30% Off IHG

IHG's Destination Deal takes up to 30% off participating hotels across the Americas, or 30% across other global destinations. Good for a Waikīkī staycation if your island pick is in, or a summer trip off-island.

Real Talk on the Discount
The full 30 percent is on the top brands, the InterContinentals, Kimptons, and Crowne Plazas. The Holiday Inn and Express side caps at 25 percent. Either way it is IHG One Rewards members only, which is free to join, off the Best Flexible Rate, and you need to book at least three days ahead. Blackout dates apply, so compare before you commit.

Deal 3 · Local Kamaʻāina: Fairmont Orchid From $349

This one is a partner we stand behind. The Fairmont Orchid on the Kohala Coast is running its Kamaʻāina Stay and Play rate from $349 a night, with 15% off dining and spa and complimentary self-parking.

Real Talk on the Rate
The $349 is the lead-in Garden View rate, before tax, and the resort fee is reduced rather than waived, so it is not a freebie. What makes this one pay off for locals is the package around the rate. The 15 percent off dining and spa and the complimentary self-parking add up fast over a few days on the Kohala Coast.

Scottie's Take

Three solid plays this week. Deal 1 is the workhorse, an efficient points run to LAX for the mainland crowd, just go in knowing the seat is usually a recliner and not a flat bed. Deal 2 is the flexible-dates pick if you are an IHG member or willing to join. And Deal 3 is the one close to my heart, the Fairmont Orchid, a partner we genuinely love and a Big Island stay that earns the kamaʻāina rate.

Real talk, the IHG window is the tightest, closing June 28, and the Atmos space moves fast. If something fits your plans, move on it before the good dates go. Mahalo, and safe travels.
