American Airlines Launches Major Award Sale, But What About Hawaiʻi?
American Airlines just launched a massive million-seat award sale, with tickets starting at only 7,500 miles one-way for domestic flights and 17,500 miles for international routes. Although most of the flights are on American and on the mainland, Alaska Airlines also has some flights for sale as a one world partner.
The sale runs through November 16, 2025, and covers travel from January 12 to February 28, 2026, giving travelers a solid 12-day window to snag discounted award seats across American’s network.

While the biggest savings apply to mainland U.S. routes and short-haul international trips, this promotion doesn’t impact flights to or from Hawaiʻi as much. That said, there’s still plenty of opportunity for local travelers to benefit, especially if you’re planning multi-leg or positioning trips. For instance, I found dates for HNL to SFO for as low as 7,500 Atmos Points.
For travelers already on the mainland, these deals are a great way to connect to your Hawaiʻi flight more affordably, or just take advantage of discounted award tickets for early 2026 trips.

This sale doesn’t change award rates to and from the islands, but it’s still one of the best mainland mileage deals we’ve seen all year. If you’re based in Hawaiʻi, use it strategically, book cheap mainland or inter-U.S. legs and save your Atmos or Avios miles for the long-haul home.
