Best Point Transfer Bonuses for April 2026 — Plus How I Booked Tokyo Business Class
Aloha ʻohana! April is here, and the transfer bonus landscape is looking really good this month, especially if Japan is on your radar. I want to walk you through every active bonus right now, but I also have a personal story to share that will make all of this very real for you. I literally just transferred miles this morning to lock in two business class seats to Tokyo for my wife and me, and a transfer bonus made the whole thing happen.
If you want to jump straight to the active bonuses, scroll right down. But the story is worth a read because it shows exactly how these opportunities work in practice.
I Booked 2 Business Class Seats to Tokyo This Morning
Let me set the scene. Last month, Bilt Rewards ran their March Rent Day promotion with a transfer bonus to JAL Mileage Bank. If you have the Bilt Mastercard and pay rent, you know Rent Day on the 1st of each month brings serious transfer bonuses, often up to 100% or more. That March JAL bonus was a big one, and I took full advantage of it to stack up JAL miles.
Then today, April 1st, Capital One announced a new 30% transfer bonus to JAL Mileage Bank running through April 30th. I transferred about 89,000 Capital One miles this morning. Capital One normally transfers to JAL at a 1,000:750 ratio, but the 30% bonus brings that almost to parity at 1,000:975, meaning my 89,000 miles translated to roughly 86,775 JAL miles. Combined with the miles I had already built up from Bilt's Rent Day bonus last month, I had exactly what I needed.
The booking? Two Japan Airlines business class seats on flight JL785, leaving Honolulu at 1:35pm and arriving at Tokyo Narita the next afternoon. We fly June 22nd. The award came out to 97,000 JAL miles per person for our dates, though I spotted availability as low as 72,000 miles per person in June. If your dates are flexible, that lower pricing is very much out there.
Business class to Japan from HNL, for our ʻohana, using points earned on everyday credit card spending. This is exactly why we track transfer bonuses so closely.
JAL uses a distance-based award chart, and Honolulu to Tokyo sits in a very favorable sweet spot. Standard business class runs around 80,000 miles, but saver space in off-peak windows can go as low as 60,000 to 72,000 miles one-way. Always confirm award availability before transferring. Once the points move, they cannot come back.
Every Active Transfer Bonus in April 2026
Here is the full confirmed list, sourced from FrequentMiler's tracker. I have tagged each one with my honest take so you know exactly what is worth your time.
What I Look For Before Transferring Points
- Confirm award space before anything else. Never transfer speculatively. Find the availability you want, then move the points. I searched and confirmed the JAL space before I transferred a single Capital One mile.
- Ask if the bonus actually changes your strategy. A 30% bonus on Capital One to JAL meant I needed to send significantly fewer miles to hit my target. That is real math that matters. A 70% bonus to IHG does not change the underlying poor value of IHG award redemptions.
- Stack bonuses across currencies when possible. I used Bilt's Rent Day JAL bonus in March and Capital One's April bonus to build up JAL miles from two separate accounts. Different currencies, same destination program.
- Watch those expiration dates. The Citi bonuses to Virgin Atlantic and LifeMiles both expire April 18th, which comes up quickly. Do not sleep on mid-month deadlines.
- Know the award chart before you transfer anything. JAL prices by distance and zone. Knowing exactly what HNL to NRT costs made the transfer decision instant and confident.
Track Every Bonus in One Place
Keeping up with transfer bonuses across Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Bilt, and others is a lot to manage on your own. That is exactly why we built and maintain the HRT Active Transfer Bonus Tracker right here on the site. Bookmark it and check it regularly, especially around the 1st of each month when Bilt drops their Rent Day promotions.

Get Your Free Personal PlanApril 2026 is a genuinely strong month for transfer bonuses, and the Capital One to JAL bonus is the one that matters most if you are a kamaʻāina traveler with Japan on your bucket list. I put that bonus to work today to lock in two JAL business class seats from Honolulu to Narita for June, and I cannot wait to make that trip with my wife.
The combination of Bilt's Rent Day JAL bonus last month and Capital One's current bonus gave us the flexibility to book exactly the dates we wanted at a great mileage rate. That is the power of watching these bonuses, staying patient, and moving quickly when the window opens.
If you have Capital One miles sitting idle and Japan is on your list, April 30th is your deadline. Do not let this one slip past you.
