Quick overviewTap to expand
  • Starting October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt members can transfer Hyatt points to another member online at Hyatt.com. No more PDF form and email.
  • Transfers stay free and you can send to any World of Hyatt member. Family ties are not required.
  • Hyatt representatives told travel outlets there will be a cap of 525,000 points sent and 525,000 points received per member each calendar year. Full terms post on launch day.
  • For Hawaii families, this makes it much easier to pool points for neighbor island resorts like Grand Hyatt Kauai and Andaz Maui, or Hyatt stays in Japan and on the mainland.
  • It caps a busy stretch for Hyatt: Chase's 4:3 transfer ratio on two cards (October 1), a new double points rate at new hotels (October 1), and a Hyatt and Aeroplan status shortcut (October 14).
  • The card move: earn and transfer at 1:1 where you can (Chase Sapphire Reserve, Bilt), then share points online with whoever is booking.

Hyatt points transfers are finally going online. Beginning October 15, 2026, you can transfer World of Hyatt points to your spouse, parents, or any other member right on Hyatt.com instead of filling out a paper form. For Hawaii families who pool points for a Kauai staycation or a Tokyo trip, this is one of the most practical Hyatt changes of the year.

Here is what changed, what Hyatt has said, and exactly how I'd use it as a local.

What changed with Hyatt points transfers on October 15, 2026?

World of Hyatt is replacing its old paper process with online transfers. Starting October 15, 2026, members can send points to another World of Hyatt member directly through Hyatt.com. Before this, both members had to fill out a points combining form, sign it, and email it to Hyatt, then wait for an agent to process it by hand.

The old form was a real headache. The names and details on the form had to match both World of Hyatt accounts exactly, and a small mismatch could get the request kicked back. Hyatt already let members share Free Night Awards, Suite Upgrade Awards, and Guest of Honor awards online, so points were the last piece still stuck on paper.

Good to Know

The online tool goes live October 15, 2026, and Hyatt's full terms publish the same day. I'll update this article once I've run a live transfer and confirmed the final rules, including whether the old once every 30 days limit sticks around.

What has Hyatt actually said about sharing points online?

Hyatt first announced digital points sharing on February 25, 2026, in the same press release that rolled out its new five level award chart. Hyatt said the feature would arrive later in 2026 and framed it around helping family and friends travel together.

Sharing points digitally will make it "easier than ever to help a loved one begin their next adventure."World of Hyatt, press release, February 25, 2026

In that same release, Laurie Blair, Hyatt's senior vice president of global marketing and loyalty, said members told Hyatt they care most about transparency and being able to plan with confidence. Hyatt also promised early award night access for Explorists, Globalists, Lifetime Globalists, and World of Hyatt credit cardmembers.

For the October launch, the transfer limits came from Hyatt directly to the travel press. MilesTalk said it got the numbers from Hyatt's PR team, and Frequent Miler said a Hyatt representative confirmed the same cap. As of October 14, 2026, Hyatt has not posted a separate newsroom release for the launch, so the official terms on Hyatt.com are the final word.

What are the rules for transferring Hyatt points to another member?

World of Hyatt points transfers remain free, and you can send points to any member, not just family. What changes is the method, plus a new annual cap. Under the online system, Hyatt has told outlets that each member can send up to 525,000 points and receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year.

One perk from the old rules worth knowing: transferring points between members has counted as account activity, which resets the 24 month expiration clock on Hyatt points. I'll confirm that carries over to online transfers.

What does Hyatt's online points transfer mean for Hawaii travelers?

For Hawaii residents, online Hyatt points transfers make it easy to pool a household's points into one account and book a neighbor island resort or a Japan trip in minutes. Most of us split points across a spouse, parents, or adult kids, and the paper form made coordinating that slow. Now it's a few clicks.

Where this helps island families the most

  • Neighbor island staycations. Grand Hyatt Kauai and Andaz Maui at Wailea are Category 8 resorts, so one person's balance often isn't enough for a three or four night stay. Pooling fixes that.
  • Booking for parents or grandparents. Send points to your parents' account so the reservation, the points, and the stay all sit under the person actually checking in.
  • Japan trips. Hyatt keeps growing in Japan, including Hyatt Centric Sapporo, which opened October 3, 2026. If you're flying to Tokyo or Hokkaido on points, pooling Hyatt points covers the hotel side. See my Honolulu to Japan guide for the flight side.
  • Topping off fast. When an award night opens at a sought after resort, you can move a few thousand points from a family member before it disappears instead of waiting on an email.

How many points do Hawaii Hyatt hotels cost?

Hawaii Hyatt hotels range from Category 4 in Waikiki to Category 8 on Maui and Kauai. Since Hyatt's May 20, 2026 award chart change, each category has five price levels from Lowest to Top, so the same room can cost very different amounts on different dates.

Hyatt Place Waikiki BeachOahu412,000 to 25,000
Hyatt Centric Waikiki BeachOahu515,000 to 35,000

Andaz Maui at Wailea ResortMaui835,000 to 75,000
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and SpaKauai835,000 to 75,000

Ranges reflect the World of Hyatt standard room award chart, Lowest to Top levels, as of October 2026. Always confirm the exact nightly price on Hyatt.com before transferring points.

Which credit cards still earn the most Hyatt points in 2026?

As of October 2026, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business still transfer Ultimate Rewards points to World of Hyatt at 1:1, and Bilt points also transfer at 1:1. The Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred now transfer at 4:3, meaning 1,000 Chase points become 750 Hyatt points.

Here's the Move

Online sharing changes the household math. If one person in your family holds a 1:1 card, have that person transfer to their own Hyatt account, then share the points online to whoever is booking. Don't transfer Chase or Bilt points to Hyatt until you've found the award night you want. Transfers into Hyatt can't be reversed.

What other Hyatt changes happened in the last few weeks?

Online points transfers cap off a busy few weeks for World of Hyatt. Since October 1, 2026, Chase cut its Hyatt transfer ratio on two cards, Hyatt swapped its new hotel bonus for a double points rate, and Hyatt and Aeroplan launched a status shortcut and a bonus points promo. Here's the rundown.

What is the Hyatt and Aeroplan status shortcut?

The Hyatt and Aeroplan status challenge lets World of Hyatt Explorists and Globalists earn Aeroplan elite status in 90 days with lower requirements than usual. Explorists can earn Aeroplan 25K with 8,000 Status Qualifying Credits. Globalists can aim for 25K, 35K, 50K, or 75K, with 75K requiring 25,000 credits. Registration opened October 14, 2026.

The catch is that only paid Air Canada flights and Star Alliance or partner flights ticketed by Air Canada in Economy Standard or higher count. Basic economy, Aeroplan award tickets, and credit card spending don't count, and you have to link your Aeroplan and World of Hyatt accounts first. For most Hawaii residents, that's a tough fit unless you already have paid trips planned through Vancouver or on Star Alliance routes to Asia or Europe. Upgraded Points has the full challenge details.

How do you transfer Hyatt points to another member online?

To transfer Hyatt points online starting October 15, 2026, sign in to your World of Hyatt account on Hyatt.com and use the new points transfer option. You'll need the recipient's World of Hyatt member number and name. The steps below are based on Hyatt's announcement and how its existing award sharing works. I'll add screenshots once it's live.

  1. Find the award first. Search Hyatt.com for your dates and confirm the exact points price before moving anything.
  2. Get the recipient's details. Ask for their World of Hyatt member number and the name exactly as it appears on their account.
  3. Sign in to Hyatt.com and open the points transfer option in your account.
  4. Enter the recipient's details and the number of points, then confirm.
  5. Check that the points landed in the recipient's account, then book the award right away.

Hyatt points transfer FAQ

Can I transfer Hyatt points online now?

Yes, starting October 15, 2026. World of Hyatt members can transfer points to another member directly on Hyatt.com. Before that date, the only option was a points combining form that both members signed and emailed to Hyatt. The online tool replaces that paper process.

Does it cost anything to transfer Hyatt points to another person?

No. Transferring World of Hyatt points between members has always been free, and reports ahead of the October 15, 2026 launch say online transfers stay free too. You can send points to any World of Hyatt member, and the recipient does not need to be a family member or live in your household.

Is there a limit on how many Hyatt points I can transfer?

Hyatt representatives told Frequent Miler and MilesTalk that each member can send up to 525,000 points and receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year under the online system. Hyatt's full terms post on October 15, 2026, so confirm the final cap there.

Is the Hyatt 30 day transfer rule going away?

Not confirmed yet. Under the old paper process, a World of Hyatt member could send or receive points only once every 30 days. As of October 14, 2026, outlets including Frequent Miler and Travel on Points say it's unclear whether that limit continues online. Check Hyatt's terms before planning multiple transfers.

Can I transfer Chase points to someone else's Hyatt account?

The simpler path for Hawaii families is to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to your own World of Hyatt account, then share them online with the person booking. That keeps the transfer clean and lets you use whichever household card gets the best ratio, like the 1:1 Sapphire Reserve.

Can Hyatt elites get Aeroplan status faster?

Yes. As of October 14, 2026, World of Hyatt Explorists and Globalists can register for a 90 day Aeroplan status challenge. Explorists can earn Aeroplan 25K with 8,000 Status Qualifying Credits, and Globalists can earn up to 75K. Only paid Air Canada flights or partner flights ticketed by Air Canada count toward the challenge.

What's the best Hyatt hotel in Hawaii to book with pooled points?

For a splurge, Grand Hyatt Kauai and Andaz Maui at Wailea are Category 8 resorts starting at 35,000 points per night as of October 2026. For a budget Oahu staycation, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is Category 4 and starts at 12,000 points per night. Prices vary by date.

Scottie's Take

Honestly, this one is a big win, and it's been a long time coming. Hyatt points were always the best hotel points to share in our family, but that paper form made it feel like filing taxes. Now my wife and I can just move points to whoever's booking and lock in the room before it's gone.

For us in Hawaii, the real value is the neighbor island trips. A few nights at Grand Hyatt Kauai or Andaz Maui adds up quick, and most households don't have it all in one account. Pool it, book it, go.

The one thing I'm watching is the card side. With Sapphire Preferred down to 4:3, I'd make sure at least one person in your house earns Hyatt points at 1:1. Then let online sharing do the rest.
