3 Ways to Save Money on Your Next Disney Trip

As a Disney Travel Planner, I’ve helped dozens of families turn their dream vacations into reality, often for less than they expected! I know firsthand that Disney trips can feel expensive, but with the right strategy (and a little insider knowledge), you can make the most of your budget without sacrificing the magic.

Every parent dreams of taking their family to Disney for the trip of a lifetime. There’s nothing like watching their faces light up as they meet their favorite character or seeing them overcome their fear of roller coasters. Family vacations create memories that last forever, but let’s be honest, a Disney trip can sometimes feel out of reach or over budget.

The good news? With a little planning and a few smart tips, you can make that dream vacation happen. Here are my top 3 ways to save money on your next Disney adventure:

1. Plan in Advance

I cannot stress this enough… book early! Planning in advance can make a huge difference in your total cost. Let me show you a real example from one of my clients who booked her 2025 trip early:

  • Booked in October 2024

  • 2 Adults, 2 Children

  • Pixar Place Hotel – 4 Nights

  • 3-Day Park Hopper with Lightning Lane Multi Pass

  • Total: $4,803.54

Now, here’s that same trip if she booked today:

  • Total: $5,360.52

That’s a savings of about $560 just for planning ahead!

My client saved over $500 on property by booking in advance! She was able to enjoy the convenience (and the views) of staying so close!

Plus, Disney vacation packages only require a $200 deposit to secure your reservation. My client had over a year to pay off her trip with a flexible, interest-free payment plan, making budgeting simple and stress-free.

The takeaway: The earlier you plan, the better your price and availability.

2. Stay at a Good Neighbor Hotel with Perks

Disney’s Good Neighbor Hotels are properties located near the Disneyland Resort that meet Disney’s high standards for quality and service. They’re often more affordable than Disney-owned hotels and can include special perks when booked as part of a Disneyland Vacation Package, such as free nights, complimentary breakfast, or extra savings.

I personally have a list of favorite Good Neighbor Hotels that are:

  • Within walking distance (no parking fees!)

  • Include free breakfast (one less meal to budget for)

  • Family-approved and highly rated

Special Offer: I’m currently offering a $50 credit toward select Good Neighbor Hotel and Disney Resort packages — even more savings for your next trip!

Pro Tip: Staying off-property doesn’t mean missing out on the Disney magic, it just means getting more value for your vacation budget.

Free hotel breakfast not only saves you money, but fuel you up for a full park day!

3. Make a Grocery Run

Food and drinks inside the parks can add up quickly. One of the easiest ways to save money is to stock up on groceries before your first park day. Grab snacks, water, and essentials to keep in your room or backpack, it’s a small effort that goes a long way in savings.

Here are some convenient nearby options:

  • Target: About 1.5 miles from Disneyland

  • Instacart: Have groceries delivered right to your hotel

  • CVS or Walgreens: Both within walking distance of the resort

Recommended items to pick up:

  • A case of water

  • Familiar snacks for the kids

  • Energy drinks or coffee for early mornings

  • Fresh fruit (available in the parks, but pricier)

  • Toiletries or small travel items you may have forgotten

A quick grocery run can easily save your family $100+ over the course of your trip.
